STATEMENT
In principle
and in practice the National Association of Women Business Owners
(NAWBO) values and seeks a diverse and inclusive membership. NAWBO
shall seek full participation in the organization by all women business
owners regardless of race, creed, age, sexual orientation, national
origin, or disability. NAWBO's goal is to fully represent the diverse
make-up of the women business owner community through increased
representation within ethnic and minority communities and to expand
access to leadership opportunities. |
OUR
TIME IS NOW
In 1974,
the National Association of Women Business Owners was founded as the only
national organization chartered to serve the specific needs of women who
own businesses. Headquartered in the Washington. D.C. area. NAWBO now
has 82 member chapters throughout the U.S., and is affiliated with the
World Association of Women Entrepreneurs in 33 countries.
FACT: Women now own over 46% of all businesses
in America, over 10.1 million privately held women owned businesses,
providing jobs for over 18 million employees, more than all the
Fortune 500 businesses combined!

VOICE AND A VISION
NAWBO provides
a strong and continuing voice and vision for women business owners within
economic, social and political communities. It is a powerful and prestigious
organization respected worldwide for pioneering innovative and effective
changes In the business culture and in public policy for women.
FACT:
NAWBO members and alumnae serve as mayors, governors, members
of Congress, Senators, U.S. trade representatives and Cabinet Officers.
MAKING
HISTORY
NAWBO recognizes that people are our greatest resource, and that
ideas and innovation are our members' most valuable products. By
helping to train leaders for a world of change, new styles of entrepreneurship
and management are emerging that will transform our workplaces.
FACT: Women now own and lead over 8 million businesses
in virtually every industry and service category.
CREATING
THE FUTURE
NAWBO's mission is to exercise leadership to create a business
climate which realizes the full integration of values, profits,
technology, and people. interaction among members is encouraged
and facilitated by meetings, newsletters, award programs and numerous
benefits.
CHAPTER
AWARDS AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS

This Chapter has been awarded the Healthy Chapter Award by
our National Organization for four years in a row (2000, 2001,
2002, 2003).

This Chapter is a nonprofit member of the Greater Fort Lauderdale
Chamber of Commerce which provides many benefits to NAWBO members.

The Debra Levy Neimark Scholarship Foundation provides annual
scholarships in education for deserving women (since 1989).

NAWBO Members have been elected as delegates to the 1995 White
House Conference on Small Businesses. Twenty of Florida's fifty
elected delegate positions were awarded to members.
- This Chapter's first twenty Presidents were honored by the
Broward County Women's Hall of Fame (November 2003).
